Awards

The purpose of our awards program is to reward students for academic achievement and improvement.
After each reporting period, students in junior and senior high are rewarded for their academic achievement. Junior high students are given ten minutes of free time for every course in which they have earned a grade of 80% or more, 20 minutes for an average of 80% or higher in the core subjects, and 20 minutes for no inexcusable absences or 10 minutes for only one inexcusable absence to a maximum of 80 minutes. After the second and third reporting periods students who increase their grade in any subject area by 10% or more will also earn 10 minutes of free time for each course in which the 10% increase is made.

Senior high students are given twenty minutes of free time for every core course in which they have earned a grade of 80% or more, ten minutes of free time for every non-core course in which they have earned a grade of 80% or more (average of the CTS modules within a course), 20 minutes for an average of 80% or higher in the core subjects, and 20 minutes for no inexcusable absences or 10 minutes for only one inexcusable absence to a maximum of 80 minutes. After the second and third reporting periods students who increase their grade in any subject area by 10% or more will also earn 10 minutes of free time for each course in which the 10% increase is made.

Students who earn an average of 80% or greater in the four core subjects (Math, LA, Social and Science) will receive, in addition to the free time, a special award such as a special lunch, material rewards, or a special activity.

A list of students being rewarded will be posted on the windows of the office.
